The Summitt Slam was a little slower than expected. However once again the younger age division dominated the field. Big Bass and top honors over all goes to Cole Schmucker who weighed in 11.6 pounds with a 6.2 pounder for big bass. Second place goes to Dalton Gorman with 8.3 pounds and new comer Kyle Shefield finishes third with 3.3 pounds. The race is still on for Angler of the year title in this age group with alot of back and forth going on with weight. Mike Boswell secures the number one position holding off Dustin Bozeman. They actually tied with both anglers weighing in 8.8 pounds. However in a tie breaker Boswell had the bigger bass by 4 ounces giving him 1st place for the tournament and holding on to the lead for Angler of the Year by ounces over Bozeman. Third place went to Austin White one of our rookies this year. Dont forget about the Rookie of the Year honors. A lot of flippin and floppin going on in all the different races for both age groups. Will some angler step out of the shadows and stir the pot a little more on Kissimmee ? If so thats the place to do it!! Good Luck to all Anglers !!!

Chris Cooper and Harry Linsinbigler out fishing with Elite Series Pro Bobby Lane after winning top honors in there age division on Lake Parker. Cooper says his experience spending time on the water with Bobby Lane was was both exciting and felt honored. Linsinbigler says he has been looking forward to being a Marshall at age 16 for the Elite Series and this was a awesome opportunity for any 15 year old. His time with Bobby Lane on the water was exciting and an irreplaceable memory. Thanks Bobby Lane!!
Chris Cooper in his rookie year is showing off his catch of the day to win the Lakeland Junior Bass Masters season opener on Lake Parker with Bobby Lane. This was Chris's first tournamnet ever. This 7.9 pounder earned Chris a fishing trip with Bobby Lane after the tournament. Bobby Lane took Chris and winner of the older age group Harry Linsinbigler back out on the lake for a little time on the water with a pro! Lake Parker proved to be tough for many anglers and even stumped some of our best. The season has just started and 11 more tournaments will decide Angler Of The year 2012. Who is in it for the long haul, who can stay consistent all year, time will tell. Keep up with the site and for more info on standings and tournament info check out our tournament trail page.
Roger Weigel keeps an eye on the competition from the Bobby Lane hot seat for most of the weigh in seeing if his 7.4 pound bass and 8.6 pound bag will hold up. Weigel has fished about 3-4 tournaments with the Lakeland Junior Bass Masters and is of to an awesome start for his 2012 season. Weigel will trail Cooper going into the next tournament on Lake Summitt and all the veterans better look out. This first tournament sent a message that new kids can fish too. Weigel and Cooper will start the season with a good solid head start above the rest. However the Angler Of The Year title is an endurance war of who can keep it going all season. This is just the begining of a long road ahead. The Summitt Slam should prove to be very interesting for this younger age division.
We'd like to extend a special thanks to the owners of DSI - Mike, Jeff and Pete Curry. Along with building our awesome weigh-in trailer, they contributed much appreciated financial support. These efforts were also coodinated through Steve Mofit. From all of us at Lakeland Junior Bassmasters, we say Thank You! Please visit their web-site at www.dsisteel.com.
